Hirvonen relieved Ford is staying
Citroen driver Mikko Hirvonen has talked of his relief at seeing Ford commit to the World Rally Championship until the end of 2013. DAMS: Grosjean proved team?s quality
DAMS team boss Jean Paul Driot believes that it took his team so long to win the GP2 championship because he has never wanted to take a risk on an under-funded driver. New Lotus-Renault Formula 1 signing Romain Grosjean dominated the 2011 GP2 season for DAMS, giving the French squad its first main series title since the category began in 2005. Driot feels that his team has always been capable of fighting for the championship, but it has always taken drivers with a budget to avoid any risk of financial troubles.

Teased: 2013 Buick Encore cubular striptease continues

Buick has shown off yet another section of the Encore CUV set to debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The latest panel gives us a clear look at the vehicle's front fascia, complete with a waterfall grille and attractive projector headlights. We aren't entirely smitten by the black trim set just below each headlight array, but we'll reserve final judgement until we see the vehicle in the flesh next week.
The Encore is expected to arrive on dealer lots later this year as a 2013 model and should bolster Buick's small SUV chops. As of right now, the company only offers the three-row Enclave crossover, leaving buyers hungry for a smaller vehicle to look elsewhere. Check back on on January 10 for all the details at the Encore's official unveiling.

Anywhere you find rabid car culture you'll find rabid tuners. Japan's no different, where the make-it-hotter ethos applies to everything. When it comes to Lamborghini, Chrysler, and yes, even the Suzuki Every kei car, Wataru Kato's 18-year-old Liberty Walk shop wants to be the last word in entertainment - not only for owners, but also for visitors.
Liberty Walk designs its own parts and applies them to a range of vehicles that go from the understated to the unbelievable. Kato says he wants his shop to be an amusement park for kids who just want to be around supercars. (We assume he means kids of all ages.)

While Derrick Cormier2 was racking-up the starts (and wins) during Round Seven of the NASCAR iRacing.com Tour Modified Seried (NiTMS) at Phoenix International Speedway, it was former champion Herb Engelhart who was thinking ?big picture? as he departed the ?Valley of the Sun? with the most points for the championship hunt. Over 100 sim racers took part in the Week Seven festivities at the one-mile oval. The top split of the week took place on Tuesday as the field combined for a 3585 Strength of Field (SoF).� The 75-lap race featured just one caution and was won by outside pole-sitter Cormier. Meeke to miss out on Monte Carlo
British World Rally Championship star Kris Meeke will not contest the Monte Carlo Rally next month, following Mini's decision to only run one of its two factory drivers on every 2012 round. Meeke has been told of the team's decision not to enter him on the Valence-based season-opener, but the Northern Irishman was out of contact when AUTOSPORT tried to reach him. AUTOSPORT'S sources have confirmed that while Meeke won't compete on every world championship round in 2012, he remains part of the Mini World Rally Team
