Official: BMW unveils limited edition Lime Rock Park M3

BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition - front three-quarter view, orange

BMW has just announced a new limited-production version of its M3 coupe, the Lime Rock Park Edition. Created in conjunction with Skip Barber, owner of the infamous New England circuit, this M3 features the best of BMW's performance catalog (though no additional power is on tap), making this coupe even more hardcore and better-poised than before.

The changes start with the exterior, where BMW has painted the two-door M3 in Fire Orange and added a carbon fiber roof panel, lightweight exhaust muffler and carbon fiber aero kits at the front and rear. The M3 Competition Package is also standard on this car, offering slightly more aggressive suspension geometry, and inside, black and anthracite cloth seats are lined with Nappa leather trim and a new flat-bottom steering wheel has been fitted.

No changes have been made to the M3's revvy 4.0-liter V8, which produces 414 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. All Lime Rock Edition models are mated to BMW's six-speed manual transmission.

Only 200 of the orange M3s will be produced, priced from $70,995 (including $895 for destination), with the first deliveries taking place in September. Scroll down for the official press blast.

Sansone Scores at Richmond

Last week, defending iRacing.com Sprint Car Series (iSCS) champion Alan Binder let his fellow drivers know that he would be taking Week 9 off. The competition responded like sharks in a feeding frenzy, with 55 sim-racers entering this week?s events at Richmond International Raceway, all hoping to catch that elusive win with their sprints. Three online races were made official during the week with no splits, allowing the field sizes in each race to be packed and loaded with talent. On Tuesday, 18 cars made the grid for the first race of the week. While the iSCS points leaders were busy making appearances at other motorsports events, tension built between all of the entrants as it was clear Tuesday’s was anyone?s race to win. Lorenzo: ?No grudge? with Bautista

Jorge Lorenzo has accepted Alvaro Bautista's apology for causing the first corner crash in the Dutch TT, admitting his initial comments were exaggerated in the heat of the moment. The Yamaha rider was taken out by Bautista when the latter braked too late and lost the front of his Gresini Honda, sliding into the Spaniard in a move Lorenzo deemed "a complete disaster" immediately after the race. Lorenzo labelled Bautista's subsequent penalty - which will force him to start from the back of the grid at this weekend's German Grand Prix - as inadequate.

Kentucky Speedway was the site of racing for Week Nine of the season. Drivers raced under the lights at the 1.5 mile track located in Sparta, Kentucky. Kentucky seemed to bring out the worst in drivers as Week Nine saw many more wrecks than normal. Week Nine is also the week in which drops come into play, mixing up the season standings more than usual. For the week, 556 sim racers attempted a race while 149 drivers attempted at least one lap in qualifying. “Had a great run tonight.” – Justin Thompson Friday night?s broadcasted SoF race had 26 drivers and an SoF of 5158. Kyle Busch wins Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway

Kyle Busch took advantage of the misfortune of Kasey Kahne and Clint Bowyer and won the 8th annual Feed the Children Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway on Wednesday night, outrunning race host and organizer Tony Stewart over the final 16 laps.

If you were a Sprint Cup Series fan who found yourself wondering how much you would pay for a caution flag at certain points during the season's first 13 races, you certainly got your money's worth if you bought the late model dirt-track charity race on Pay-Per-View. The first half of the 40 lap feature was marred by caution after caution, including an eight car crash on the frontstretch on the third scored lap.

Kahne started on the pole and relinquished the lead to Bowyer, last year's winner, on lap 13. When Kahne went to get the lead back from Bowyer just a few laps later, he slid up into Bowyer's car trying to clear him. The contact sent Bowyer's car into the wall, and eventually into the garage after he got into the wall again on the next lap.

However, Kahne was the next car to find trouble. On lap 24, Bobby Labonte spun around and his car stopped in the high lane of turn 3, the preferred groove around the racetrack. Kahne swerved his car hard to the left in an attempt to avoid the parked Labonte, but ended up slamming into the driver's side of Labonte's car hard enough to rip his right front wheel completely off. (Both drivers were unhurt.)

Those events handed the lead to Busch, who started first with 16 laps to go and never relinquished the lead. By the time Stewart had moved from fifth to second, Busch already had an insurmountable advantage.

Danica Patrick, who drives for Stewart in the Sprint Cup Series, turned the first laps of her professional driving career on dirt on Wednesday. Patrick hit the wall during her heat race before the main feature and finished three laps down in 15th during the feature race.

Kurt Busch, suspended by NASCAR for Sunday's race at Pocono, was entered in the event and started on the pole for the fourth heat race before the feature but was caught up in two incidents in the heat race. The damage to his car was severe enough that he was unable to race in the main event.

Full results are below. Each of the race's top 10 finishers will have a food truck donated for Feed the Children in the city of their choice.

1. Kyle Busch
2. Tony Stewart
3. Austin Dillon

Report: Ford to exceed EcoBoost target by 100,000 units

2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost badge

Like almost every other automaker these days, Ford is having a tough time in Europe right now, and here in the States, its per-share stock price is lagging, but that isn't stopping the automaker from exceeding some of its goals. The Detroit Free Press reports that sales of the company's EcoBoost turbocharged and direct-injected engines are going beyond expectations. The Blue Oval's signature powerplants have made it to a wide variety of Ford and Lincoln products, from larger vehicles like the Explorer, Taurus and MKT to smaller models like the new Escape and Focus ST.

In fact, Ford is reportedly on track to sell 1.6 million of these forced-induction vehicles in 2013 - a full 100,000 units more than it had previously estimated.

The smaller, more efficient EcoBoost powerplants will make the Ford lineup more efficient and a program to cut down the amount of platforms the automaker uses globally is helping to trim costs. Ford product development chief Raj Nair claims that the automaker is on track to clip its platforms from 22 in 2011 to 10 by 2017. The move should save Ford hundreds of millions of dollars as platform costs drop as scale increases.
