As we count down to the 2013 Daytona 500, we're also counting down how we think the Chase will play out this season as predicted by Nick Bromberg, Jay Busbee, Jay Hart and Geoffrey Miller. So sit back, relax, and watch the 2013 Chase unfold before your very eyes. Though you should be warned, we picked Carl Edwards to win last year.
2012 Finish: 4th. 2 wins (Charlotte and New Hampshire)
2013 Predictions:
Bromberg: 5th
Busbee: 5th
Hart: 8th
Miller: 7th
Crew Chief: Kenny Francis
When we last saw Kahne: He was sneakily hanging around on the periphery of the championship discussion until a 25th place finish at Texas derailed any thoughts of Kahne winning the title. After moving up to third with a third place finish at Phoenix, Kahne was 21st at Homestead and finished fourth.
Big Question for 2013: What's the second act? Kahne had some Jeff Gordon type luck int he first part of the season and through six races was 31st in the points standings. Mind you, that was a six race stretch that Kahne had two poles; speed wasn't an issue. That was proven as Kahne immediately reeled off seven straight top 10 finishes, and by the time the circuit left Dover after the season's 13th race, he was 14th in the points standings.
Track most likely to win at: Charlotte may belong to another Hendrick driver besides Jimmie Johnson. Kahne has finished in the top 12 in nine of the last 11 Charlotte races. Those two efforts came consecutively in his last race at the track for Richard Petty Motorsports and his first race for Red Bull Racing.
Track most likely to require a miracle to win at: It's not his worst track statistically, but Kahne has never finished in the top 10 at Watkins Glen. He finished 13th last year -- his highest career finish there.
How Kahne could win the Chase: Kahne ran strongly at Martinsville last season and grabbed his first win at New Hampshire, two tracks he hadn't excelled at in the past. And they're Chase tracks to boot. Couple strong performances again there with Kahne's continued excellence at the 1.5 mile tracks that make up the Chase and there's your recipe for a title.
How Kahne couldn't: Those strong Martinsville performances weren't an indication of things to come and that, coupled with an average finish at Dover, derails his chances at a title. Though let's be honest, it's hard to make a compelling case for Kahne not to win the championship, so that speaks to how strongly he's viewed as a contender.

So sit back, relax, and watch the 2013 Chase unfold before your very eyes. Though you should be warned, we picked Carl Edwards to win last year.
2012 Finish: 6th. 5 wins (Phoenix, Kansas, Bristol, Atlanta, New Hampshire)
2013 Predictions:
Bromberg: 4th
Busbee: 1st
Hart: 9th
Miller: 1st
Crew Chief: Darian Grubb
When we last saw Hamlin: He was having a fluky electric failure at Martinsville that ruined his Chase chances. Hamlin is really really good at Martinsville and was really really good on that Sunday, driving through the field twice after pit road speeding penalties and looked like he was going to be able to stay in touch with Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski. But then suddenly, his car started sputtering and coasting and eventually had to go to the garage. Hamlin's race and his championship hopes were done.
Big Question for 2013: After Martinsville, Hamlin said this: "One of these days it's going to be our time. It's just not right now." Is 2013 right now? While the honeymoon period between he and Grubb wasn't entirely seamless, the positives far outweighed the negatives and Hamlin established himself as the driver to beat when he grabbed the Chase's top seed and won its first race. Yes, the circumstances were different, but Hamlin wasn't as emotionally spent after Martinsville than he was after Phoenix in 2010. That bodes well for minimizing the chances of a repeat of 2011.
Track most likely to win at: Martinsville or Richmond. Next!
Track most likely to require a miracle to win at: Did you know that Hamlin has finished in the top 10 just twice in Daytona points races? Kind of hard to believe, isn't it.
How Hamlin could win the Chase: Avoid that fluky finish somewhere in the Chase. Three years ago, it was that late pit stop at Phoenix that allowed Jimmie Johnson to close the gap. Last year, it was Martinsville. Hamlin has the confidence, and now the resolve. It's just a matter of turning that into results.
How Hamlin couldn't: Well, as you can see from above, two of us think that Hamlin's going to take care of business. (It's just that Hart is bringing down his average). I know it's become cliche at this point to joke about, but if the Joe Gibbs Racing engine gremlins reappear during the Chase aboard Hamlin's No. 11, that could be the quickest way to derail this title attempt.

I just couldn't bring myself to lead this post with the image you see on the right. The winter months have not been kind to our matte gray 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, and since you can't just run the thing through your local car wash, our oddly shaped little hatchback has spent more days dirty than clean. It breaks my fleet manager heart to see one of our test cars covered in schmutz so frequently, but let's be honest - the last thing anyone wants to do when it's 12 degrees Fahrenheit outside is play with a hose and spend a good amount of time hand-washing a car.Continue reading 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo: February 2013

Hypothetical time. You have no travel restrictions. You have no budget restrictions. You don't have to worry about vacation days. You have tickets at the start finish line about 40 rows up. But you only have tickets to one race. Which 2013 Sprint Cup Series race do you choose?
Oh, and for the purposes of this discussion, the Daytona 500 isn't eligible, because we all know that it'd be the overwhelming favorite.
Do you choose Talladega? You're not camping in the infield, however, so because of that, the race may lose some of it's luster. Or does the allure of restrictor plate racing overcome that? Is the option the Bristol night race? Or have the open seats and the surface changes at the track rubbed some of the luster off of the race?
Is it Indianapolis because of the track's history? Or does the sometimes snooze inducing racing and the inability to see across the track to the backstretch scratch that? Homestead because it's the final race of the season and you'll get to see the 2013 champion crowned? Texas because of all of the activities on the track grounds? Dover or Kansas so you can go to the casino immediately afterwards?
Drop us a line in the comments below. And as for me? It's none of the tracks mentioned above. I'd want to introduce myself to the Lady in Black.
